Hardscape Installations
At Rooted Outdoor Living, I see custom hardscape installation as the backbone of a great landscape—it’s what brings structure, flow, and that perfect mix of function and artistry to an outdoor space. I have always had a deep love for stone. My family and I hike and backpack in our free time, and I’m constantly looking at and picking up all kinds of stones. The textures, the earthy colors, the way stone weathers and ages so beautifully—every piece tells a story, and I get to use those stories to shape landscapes that feel like they’ve always belonged.
Natural materials like clay brick, bluestone, and natural stone have soul. Clay brick gives off a classic, timeworn charm, bluestone has a smooth, cool elegance, and natural stone—with all its rugged edges and organic beauty—brings a timelessness that nothing manufactured can replicate. These materials become the foundation for patios, walkways, retaining walls, firepits, outdoor kitchens, and ponds, all designed to blend effortlessly into the landscape and feel like they’ve been there forever.
But for me, hardscaping isn’t just about laying stone—it’s about creating spaces that feel good to be in. I love weaving in granite boulders for bold accents, outcropping stones for those natural transitions, and pea gravel pathways for that satisfying crunch underfoot. Firepits become the heart of a space, dry streambeds add both beauty and smart drainage, and retaining walls do their job while looking like they just naturally belong.
Every project is a mix of craftsmanship, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the materials themselves. I design every patio, walkway, and stone feature to feel like a natural extension of your home—something that’s not just built to last, but to be truly enjoyed. So if you’re dreaming of a cozy bluestone patio, a winding garden path, or a front entry that makes a statement, let’s bring it to life. It will be rooted in nature, built with intention, and full of character—just like every great landscape should be.
