lovely install

i enjoyed a beautiful couple days last week at a lovely new home.  i even talked my daughter into helping me with the installation!  the weather was perfect, the plantings were lush, and the crew did a beautiful job (no surprise there).  it's always so fun for me to see a complete transformation of a space.  in a matter of a day or two this whole front and side yard went from bare to bursting with new life.  when i design, i always draw the plant material as if it's at maturity to allow for future growth.  i always tell clients that we need to see spaces at the initial installation to prevent a scenario down the road where plants are way too crowded.  crowded plants mean a messy look and a need for dramatic pruning.  pruning, because of poor planning, is maintenance that most homeowners don't desire.  plants themselves look nicer and more natural and more beautiful when left (for the most part) to do their thing.  some of the plant material on this project we were able to get pretty much full grown and able to space accordingly so the look was stunning, and the effect was delightful.  i can't wait to see it a year or two from now.  happy gardening!
